Despite a modest attendance (35), our bus trip to the south side of the James was a big success.
We visited Historic St. Luke’s Church, the Isle Of Wight Historical Museum in Smithfield, Bacon’s Castle, and Smiths Fort – all with excellent guides.
Lunch at the historic Smithfield Inn was outside, covered, with white table clothes and a regional specialty: fried green tomato sandwich. Which was really much more than that modest name; an excellent luncheon experience.
We returned on the Ferry with a nice view of Historic Jamestowne.
A nice finale to our spring programming.
