The Deltaville Maritime Museum and Holly Point Nature Park located on the Chesapeake Bay has a lot to offer its visitors. Currently, our mini-museum is featuring an exciting, new Civil War exhibit that focuses on Middlesex County’s involvement in the War. The exhibit displays information on John Taylor Wood’s Ambush at Wilton Creek and the capture of two Union gunboats the Satellite and the Reliance, features an account of the 55th Virginia Infantry involvement in Stonewall Jackson’s last battle at Chancellorsville and the Battle of Gettysburg, and portrays the home front and how everyday life was affected by the War.
Our museum also contains some model boats and information on the famous F.D. Crockett: one of only two log-bottom buy boats built exclusively for power existing on the Chesapeake Bay. The F.D. Crockett is available to visit at our dock located off of Holly Point Park, as well as the Explorer: a replica of the boat Captain John Smith used to travel and map the Chesapeake Bay in 1607-1608. While here, visit our many gardens located in our 30-acre park, including our woodland, wildflower, and children’s gardens. We hope to see you soon!
