Dating back to the late 1700s, this historic “courthouse tavern” is home to the Tavern Restaurant and “Heritage Arts Center” Gift Shop. The restaurant serves breakfast and lunch, all made from scratch. In the gift shop, you’ll find the wares of over 75 local artisans and artists, plus several artisans at work in their studios. This includes the Tavern Quilt Guild in their studio on the first floor and the Tavern Spinners & Weavers Guild in their studio upstairs. The Tavern Blacksmith Guild plies their trade in the Forge outback. The Tavern Woodworkers Guild has both a modern and a colonial-era workshop in the Carriage House, which also boasts a collection of antique carriages. The Tavern is the sponsor of the Heathsville Farmers Market, held on the third Saturday of the month, April through October. Located in Heathsville just off Route 360 hidden behind the old Northumberland Courthouse.
