LECTURE ANNOUNCEMENT for November 8, 2020

 Dr. Carl Lounsbury will present the updated story, “Restoring Williamsburg”, to include material from the ongoing process of the restoration and new information on the impact on the local residents, especially the African-American community overlooked in the 1988 book.  Carl will discuss the history of the actual homes, shops, and taverns, along with photos and new information.    

Restoring Williamsburg” authors, Carl R. Lounsbury and George Humphrey Yetter have updated the story of “Williamsburg Before and After” – the story of Colonial Williamsburg and the vision realized by W.A.R. Goodwin and John D. Rockefeller.

Dr. Lounsbury retired from the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation after 35 years as a senior architectural historian. He has published several highly recognized books and is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor of architectural history at William & Mary.
