A bus trip to Northhampton County, Eastern Shore on Tuesday, October 18 will explore several historic gems. The bus will depart 8:30 a.m. from the Target at Marquis Shopping Center, travelling over the Bay Bridge andTunnel to Northhampton County.
The tour will begin with a private tour of a home not usually open to the public – Eyre Hall. First occupied by Thomas Eyre in 1623, the house, built circa 1760, and gardens are among the finest in Tidewater Virginia.
Lunch will be in the beautiful central dining room of the 1780 Inn in Eastville. Following lunch, a private tour of the historic Eastville Green, seat of the Northhampton County since 1680, will include the Old Courthouse (1731), Clerk’s office (1732), and prison (1814), and a viewing of legal records dating from 1632, the oldest in the U.S.
The visit will conclude at Pear Valley, a one room house dating from the 17th century.
